A Tale of Two Movies....

Being a avid cinemagoer, I have grown to the fact that there is a lot of crap out there. So I see myself as a gold digger trying to find the prize out there. AFter all good cinema is like a gem out there, amidst all the wannabes and the hype.

A year that boasts of a score of blockbusters every friday churns up not more than a few.

But this weekend was special....two delightful movies I managed to capture back to back.

First up was Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na...it was an extremely delightful watch. Never knew a plot so stale could end up this entertaining. And I know for sure, having watched it twice in the space of three days. The last time I did that was I guess when Rang De Basanti released. Great attempt from Abbas Tyrewala though I know that this is only a slice of his genius up there. But then again, that was more enough to give me some fun at the movies. So if you havent caught it, please do. One of the few movies I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone- be it the masala movie freaks or the high brow critical intellectuals. A wonderful entertainer, and the best from mainstream Bollywood so far this year.

But it only got better when the next day I happened to catch the other new release in town - WALL E. And boy, was I right. It always looked to have that extra charm about it, the kind that promises something special. And with WALL E I got something special indeed...a touching romantic tale in the future that has the magic to touch us all. Emotions have never strongly been blended in any Pixar movie as this one. There is magic in simplicity, be it now , be it in the future. IT is then no surprise that WALL E is being touted already in the top ten movies ever!!

So what did I avoid...the uninspiring Love Story 2050 and the big Hollywood flick HANCOCK. Both have opened to lousy reviews, and knowing me I would have been attempted to even give them a try. But nah, not after these two delight...i would like to believe that good cinema is all around. Don't wanna ruin the feeling for now!

So guys, those who like to give good cinema a shot... JAANE TU or WALL E it is....

Enjoy your popcorns!!
