Well, everyone seems to be all geared up and ready to go and have a blast this new year.
However not so for a bunch of boys (or rather aged men) who sit around Sydney clutching their heads thinking on how to get it right. After the disastrous start that they had to the India-Aussie series, the Indian cricketers just are clueless as the rest of the cricket fans about what their strategy is to be.
The problem is that the team still has not managed to get a consistent and dependable opening partnership. And how long has this been? Can the team make a resolution to this effect immediatley, please!
On the other hand, all our batsmen are so legendary overseas that we cannot drop any of them. The team simply must have Dravid, Laxman, Sachin and Saurav. All four are here in Australia for the last time and so experienced that we cannot afford to keep anyone on the bench.
Then we have the talent of Yuvraj. One of the best timers of the ball in Indian cricket and a notorious name now in the ODI and Twenty20 circuit. However test is a different ball game which many claim that the young Yuvraj is ready for. Yet that is not what his first two trips to the crease at Australian soil proved.
So what do we do for the next test?
Keep Yuvraj out for the next, and try the Sehwag-Jaffar combo to get Dravid back to his famed No 3 slot.
Or discard Dravid to keep the faith in young Yuvraj alive.
Or Steve Waugh comes with yet another strategy. Let Jaffar be the one taking the axe and let Dravid and Sehwag open the batting giving seed for the style of obvious opposites to bloom. However this is totally risky as neither Sehwag or Dravid are exactly the kind of people into whose hands we can trust the task of opening the innings against super champs Australia.
The sydney test is sure going to mean a lot to the Indian players. Most of them shall never play the Aussies again on Aussie soil. It is one last chance to redeem themselves. Most of them were not even part of the winning Test 20 team, and shall have to settle in for the memories of the lousy first round crash of the 2007 World Cup.
So will the boys...ahem Men in Blue walk away with their heads high? Will their strategies ensure that we get something fitting and worthy of their true talents?

Happy New Year 2008
The wind has blown, and the leaves are left to dance
for comes along another hope, another year, another chance
For memories of the past you shall take along
they say that is what eventually makes you strong
And oppurtunities of the future you look to seize
of aspring dreams and hopes of conquering seas
However a moment be spared to thank the Superior we love
The one with an eye on all us mere mortals below
for letting us be here, standing, looking at the year ahead
rewarding us for believing in His words that he said
For his love and grace saw us through
in times deserving and otherwise too
So holding His hands let us make the next pace
step by step, we walk under his watch and grace
For with him, oppurtunites of the future you look to seize
of aspring dreams and hopes of conquering seas!

Cuckoo Delight!
Check out this video....one of the most impressive of shorts I have seen recently. One of the reasons that justify YOUTUBE. This creation has wonderful thought and creativity put into this, humurous and thoughtprovoking at the same time. Commendable work.
We always keep complaining our mechanical our life is, how boring it is etc, but this one speaks for itself. To compare it to the cuckoo bird...brilliant work, guys!

Afterall, Boys will be Boys!
Its been exactly a week. But such was it that cannot be erased, need not be forgetten, in fact needs to be cherished!
Last week we three, school buddies got together. Deep back from States, Hen still hanging around in AUH and it is not everyday that you get them all aligned together. So when it does get aligned, there is something in it for sure.
That is what exactly happened as me and Hen after a bite we called Dinner picked up Deep from his place at around 1.00 am. Then what followed I know not, but it was zany and crazy. We just talked and talked and talked, but what we really ended up doing through that night was laugh and laugh and laugh. Really havent had such a hearty laugh in quite some time and definitely it was worth the trip, and definitely worth stayin up that night!
IT was one of those few days where for once, I felt like I was still back at senior school. Lazin around that beach at 3 am, I realised sometimes friends are all you need.
However next day woke up and life was back where it was. Well guys, my only wish is that whereever we end up from now on....hope we can get together like this, and just sit back and enjoy the times kingsize. Afterall, boys will be boys!
And Hen, you definitely need to give me your price charts! starting from Dhs 15 all rite! I am sure if you get it all compiled, Deep will surely get a publisher for the same.

And Indians do it Again!!!!
This is getting weirder and crazier as time goes.
Looks like the best place to be a sportsman suddenly is India.
The hockey success, the football jubilation, the cricket pie, regaining that Chess title, and now this is the biggest shock of them all yet- an Indian school team from Orissa goes on to win a World Under 14 Rugby tournament in London.
Rugby?? And Indians?? This certainly is one shocker. What is even more shocking is that the kids are not from the upper Mumbai or Delhi class where the glory of rugby has slowly crept in. These are a bunch of children from real backward classes and communities, coming together under the nick name of Jungle Crows and what they have achieved is more than a mere piece of inspiration.
Kudos kids....these guys have gone on to prove that nothing is impossible. Especially when they can win a major tournament like this after just four months into the sport.

Congrats Team India!!
Yes, cannot keep this feeling within. Congrats India!
Defying expectations, and performing beyond the wildest dreams, it was wonderful to see the team come through winning back to back matches, all do-or-die battles right upto the last ball.
Ironical that this comes as I still pen my thoughts on how a movie has set the ball rolling for Indian sports. First the hockey, then soccer and now cricket. We are making our mark for sure in the sporting arena and these two months ever since the release of CHAK DE INDIA has been nothing but memorable sporting moments.
Once again congratulations to the Indian Cricket team in bagging the first T20 World Cup, that too without the likes of the 'superstars' like Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid. Even the Board decided that we need not send our main strike bowler Zaheer Khan because they expected this to be a kid's pyjama cricket which we really need not bother with. Now the same Board is throwing in cash awards left and right for the Young Turks who made the country proud.
And special mention to Dhoni and his team. The guys really stepped up and it was brilliant when you think that we walked in confidentally and won it despite not having Yuvraj against the Proteas, or even Sehwag in the finale. The confidence that Dhoni has on the bench is commendable!
And at such a moment, would like to point fingers at the irresponsible media who flashed stories of an upset Yuvraj over the captaincy. Also at the untimely decision of Dravid to announce his resignation on the day of an important match. These factors could have spoil the party, but I am glad the individuals put the country ahead of everything else.
That was some final. An now I can finally shave my beard.
Yeah, well I have not shaved ever since India started its roll with England. Then came South Africa, then the Aussies. I decided to keep my beard for one more match. Even at the risk of me looking at my shabby worst, I went for it. And boy, we won!
The team gets to keep the Cup, but I certainly have to get rid of this thing on my face!

A touch felt, a heart melt!
You know not how, you know not how
you know not was it then, or was it now
But you know that they did touch
touched your hearts, be it of hate or love!
Maybe many a year, maybe just a tear
might have taken a while dear, maybe just a smile mere
yet you know touched it did, like a feather
while you were worried about the thrusted spear!
For you realise that his voice isnt heard anymore
its been ages since they closed upon you
But today they are missed, only to feel
the touch and the warmth and all that it meant to you!
And though her voice rings in your ears, and
her shoulder an arms length distance from you
Realise you do what she means to you
you do feel her soul, but fails to know your own role!
People come and go...and at times I agree that we do not realise the worth of the people around us or the worth of the moment that just passed away. Past, present, the future is all around us and every moment gives us something to cling onto. To cherish, to learn, to realise, to ponder.....every moment evokes an emotion of a different kind. The greatest touch is the one that you feel. You might not see it, you might not hear it, but your heart feels it. That is the touch that you have to look out for.

Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine,
After the rain...
Perhaps you may stumble,
Perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready,
To answer your call...
He knows every heartache,
Sees every tear,
A word from His lips,
Can calm every fear...
Your sorrows may linger,
Throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish,
In dawn's early light...
The Savior is waiting,
Somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
And send you His love...
Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
"God always sends rainbows...
After the rain..."
-Anon

STOMP OUT!
Oh boy...secured the tickets. To keep talking about buying the tickets and to actually purchase them are two different things. Ask me for I know.
This time though its finally purchased. And so I shall be catching STOMP when they arrive in Dubai.
Speaking of which, it is nice to know such quality shows are making its way into the city of Dubai. Dubai has always been trying to get into the big league bandwagon but when it came to entertaingment, they really lacked the quality inspite of the quantity. However with CIRQUE DE SOLEIL coming into town earlier this year and now STOMP clan also making its precense felt, we know that Dubai is keen Keen to watch, keen to entertain.
Now, back to the show of the moment. STOMP Yes, definitely a percussion extravaganza not to be missed. So ppl around Dubai, make sure you grab your tickets for this one.Meanwhile, I shall rest in peace now that I have the tickets, that is until the actual date. The show opens in Dubai from Oct 18-25. For more details http://www.timeoutdubai.com/dubai/artandculture/events/review.php?id=5958

And so the Journey Begins
In he strolled knowing not
knowing not what lies await
For he knows the voices shall come
come and show him the ways
the way to mend soulds,
the way to touch hearts,
the way to pour out a tear,
the way to bring on a smile
and so the journey goes, and in this while
amidst the lines, amidst the words
you find the answers
...for everyone does....eventually!
But not until you stroll in
knowing not what lies await!
knowing not what lies await
